This is not a feature of Classic Shell. And as far as I am aware the ability to customize this (and many other things) was removed from Windows 8 and up.

That won't work either. Mac is going the same way as Windows with a focus on taking customization away (though it's been that way for a long time...). There's always running a Linux distro for web and then running all your programs in a Windows VM...

It never worked for me, so was about to make a post saying he can't do that with basic themes. But I decided to try it myself again. It does work with Windows Basic and third party themes--but not with Windows Classic for some reason. Why not?

I believe they're only like that when they're first copied, and only sometimes (when it's copied to an external disk, root folder, or certain other conditions). But pressing refresh or opening the folder again should fix it.

Ouch. Yeah, Windows 10 likes uninstalling programs that are "out of date" or "security risks." AKA programs MS doesn't like. That's another reason not to have Windows 10. I hope Microsoft stops going down this route. No idea what I'll do once support for Windows 7 ends.

I made a taskbar skin to go with it. Works best on monitors 1680 pixels wide and small trays. Otherwise you'll have to edit the skin yourself.

I tried it, and it seems pretty good.....but it doesn't have the menu bar, and just as annoying, you can't turn off tabbing. So are you saying the menu can't be added ever to "edge" because of extensions? You might like Pale Moon or Sea Monkey then. They both have interfaces with menu bar...

If you're posting it here for others to use, know that they'll need either the icon you used with the classic start button or the hot & pressed states of the button to be used normally. Or if it's just a proof of concept or something, you might want to explain that in your post.

You can kind of get that effect (customizable, flashy if you want, animations) with WindowFX but we can't talk about that here because it's made by the company that makes Classic Shells competitor, Start8/10. So shhh! It's a secret to everybody! 8-)
