I modified his 8.1 button a little bit, with a crude copy of Metro, for the hover.

Well, I'm pretty much happy with the Clasic Start Menu,(CSM).
It's higher than 99.99% acceptable. Very few bugs.
Time to donate some money for Ivo's gas tank and put some grub on his table.
The deed is done. It felt good.
Keep the new features coming. |

I think they are called infotips. Maybe means the same thing.
They display for the shortcuts inside the folders only.

Right click on Shell button to get small menu, and left click on settings.
Pick Customize Start Menu, and I'm sure you can take it from there.
The Help file, also in small menu, is very informative.

for mentioning about the menu minimum width settings,
and the tweaky fix. I always figured I was doing something wrong with the settings,
as nothing worked for me, as well.

| Just want to say, before making drastic changes to the menu, it's a good idea to back it up. Saved me a number of times, when I over modified, and forgot how to put back to normal.
