Alright, are you using a theme? Because it seems that the 3D border only takes effect with the Windows Classic theme. I'm not sure how to change this.

Just something I noticed though, the borders are missing making the menus look a bit off. Do you have the 3D border setting enabled? Because that could be the issue. I already know about the custom captions (my skin still has an option for that as well) but like JoshD said, I'm mainly doing this fo...

I dont think there is a way to determine which OS is being used by a skin.. so its 1 caption image for all OS's and the text is overlaid by classic shell itself Actually, I'm making a skin that will let you choose which OS version you want to have displayed. So if you want the menu to say 'Windows ...

Alright, I'm fine with doing them. But before I get to work on them, I do have a few questions about their designs. 1.) Should I have separate captions for different versions (example: Home Premium, Professional, etc.) or should I have one caption for every version (example: Windows 7)? Doing ones f...

Thanks so much Ivo. I also forgot about the Skinning Tutorial page, so that was helpful too. Also I had meant to say the bottom pixels for the image, but I figured that out myself thanks to you. Anyway, I'm working on a skin that will let you choose between every Windows version (including the betas...

Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to make the top 230 or so pixels not get stretched. I can't seem to figure it out.

Is it possible we will see the classic copy dialogs in Windows 8.1 in any future updates?

You can edit the registry to change this. Check in HKCU\Control Panel\Colors for the color data. I might post up a .reg file that will give you Windows 95 colors/metrics if I have time later.

I have the command bar hidden on my system, here's a tutorial on how to do it: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-make-folder-band-auto-hidden-in-windows-vista/ Just be sure you're ok with modifying system files. The tutorial is for Windows Vista, but it's the exact same process in Windows 7 (and in Window...

Well yeah, glass effect is what I meant by animation. Sorry if that confused you. Also, I don't believe it has a 'pressed' state, as Microsoft designed the button to immediately take the user to Metro, meaning the user probably wouldn't see it pressed. This can be seen with Classic Shell, as the but...

It's whatever color is selected on the Start Screen, so Windows 8 colors. I guess the animation could be somewhere, but I get the feeling it's animated by Metro. I think the color and animation is drawn behind the start button, and the hover image overlays it. I didn't see anything resembling the sh...

Hey, sorry to bump this thread, but Windows 8.1 actually does use a static image for its start button. Well, sort of. The images for the start button are located in C:\Windows\System32\twinui.dll They are actually PNG files (rather than bitmaps like in Windows 7). Here's what they look like: http://...

Hello, I wanted to suggest adding an option to use a 'hot' icon for commands on the Classic Explorer toolbar. Like with Classic Shell's up button in Windows Vista and Windows 7, the hot icon would be shown when the mouse is over whichever said button. Perhaps this could even be a nice feature for th...

I also thought it would be nice to have different start button settings based on the taskbar's icon size. That would be useful as well.

I don't know if this would be possible, but I thought I'd just throw it out there anyway. I was wondering if Classic Shell's settings could be changed per theme. For example, how about changing the Start Button or the Start Menu skin when the user changes a Windows theme (perhaps even the Start Butt...

The classic login screen? That's still one of my most missed features in newer Windows versions. I don't see it as impossible to accomplish, however. I've even thought of how it could be accomplished. Theoretically you could create your own LogonUI.exe that would use a classic login window interface...
