well it could change once you select the file from the open dialog, and then un-change later if u hit cancel button.. also couldn't you check the file for changes when the user re-selects the file with the open dialog (store the filesize and compare it to the new size or something) and yes im aware ...

i thought on 7 it looked similar to 8 trish; are you sure that pic can be mimiced on 7. because windows 7 allows for transparency in icons, its hard for the system to determine exactly what areas to color blue, whereas in xp without transparency you could just throw a blue rectangle the same size as...

are your links/shortcuts using absolute paths or relative paths?
Absolute path would be similar to C:\program files\programsname\program.exe
relative would be likely have the word "Username" or something similar in the path

well duno about specifically, but im pretty sure 'increase precision' makes the cursor move even slower when you are moving the mouse slow, and probably moves it faster when it detects you swinging your mouse across the pad quickly.. so check to see if your mouse has settings to adjust this feature ...

well this particular 'bug' is more of a visual one the item is selected, its just not the active selection. this can be reproduced with a mouse by opening 2 windows, selecting something in 1 window, then clicking the other window.. the item in the origional window is still selected, its just not act...
