Classic Shell already has that feature on Windows 8, it's just labelled "Opaque", likely because it does in fact make the Taskbar opaque if Aeroglass 8.1+ is not installed. But if you do have Aeroglass 8.1+, you'll get a nice glassy blur effect instead. |

I did kind of figure everything out for the skin. It works as it should with a minimal regular theme. Just don't know enough about making a theme that can work in Win 10, that does not screw up the look on web pages. The menu is intentionally behind the taskbar, because otherwise the shadow will look weird. I know this is kinda trivial, but it'd be nice to have an option to change that to facilitate the other setting I mentioned. Think of the theming possibilities... You seem to be using a custom theme that may be adding an extra edge to the taskbar. It may be tricking the start menu into positioning in the wrong spot. The in-place programs list imposes certain requirements to the main menu, like for example the All Programs button has to be at the bottom. The Classic style lets you rearrange the items in any way you like, so that's not guaranteed. Just a thought...what if the "All Programs" button disa... |

It's called the Command Bar. It can't be removed easily without patching Explorer. You can either have it or have the Ribbon which you seem to have disabled using some tool. Yes, the latest version of Classic Shell has a feature to override the Taskbar colour and image. It's a bit fiddly, but it should do the job. |

I know. I was just asking if it was possible to use a mask to control where metro colours appear as overlays onto the bitmap, since prior to this I had only seen such masks used for Glass colour. Adding to what Guarav said regarding the borders on the menu, one of the stock skins (Metro) has no borders. You might like it.

If you install the Anniversary Update, you will need to use Classic Shell 4.3.0. It was released 5 days ago, and so far nobody has reported any issues with it. And I mean, nobody has reported issues with the real installer. The hacked version that was circulating on Tuesday is another matter. Just ... |

Title says it all. My Dad has been using Classic Shell as of recently, and he also upgraded to Windows 10. However, I noticed a few thread titles suggesting the Anniversary Update may cause issues with Classic Shell. Should I have him uninstall it for the time being? |

Well, no, you can't skip the update if you already ran the installer... If you are infected, the next reboot will fail. If you are not that confident everything is OK, I would back up the important files to an external drive, cloud, or whatever, and then do a test restart. I'm pretty sure I didn't ... |

no it doesn't instantly BSOD when you delete/change the MBR; it waits till you restart your pc...
