1. a theme alone is unlikely to get you the exact look; even if you were to use the one directly from windows 8. there are alot of things defined outside of a theme that would likely need tweaked in the registry 2. classic shell can help with the taskbar, and most of what the start menu on 8 had. h...

Hi! I was wondering. Whether it's worth enough seeking for a theme or trying to make the theme files from Windows 8/8.1 work on 10. I found a win 8 theme for 10 on deviantart , however based on the screenshots it doesn't reflect the appearance I'm used to (and prefer) on 8: ⋅ Titlebar text...

Hi!

I placed an lnk in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\<subfolder> started a program from CSM, which then appeared in the MRU list.
Then I removed that icon.

I got this in the MRU list:

(I can't remove it (no context menu), it doesn't start anything.)

You can't prevent indexing of folders but you can prevent returning them in search results. The search box supports the Windows Advanced Query Syntax. So you can type: <Your search term> —kind:folder(— means exclude items with the kind:folder). I see. Well, it l'll go back to making .lnk-s then.

The search box supports wildcard filtering so you could also type this into the Start Menu's search box: C:\YourFolderContainingEXEs\*.exe or C:\YourFolderContainingEXEs\av*.exe and so on.
