To clarify - would the Windows Key shortcuts still work, ie. WindowsKey and X to open the menu?

I use computers for digital signage -- although they normally don't have a keyboard attached, when they do -- hitting the windows key in windows 7 brings up the start menu. There is a script to disable this functionality in windows 7, but it breaks in windows 8 looking for a solution. In windows 8 -...
