Seems like you are using the Classic skin. It will try to use the system's menu color. Either find a way to change that color or pick a different skin from the settings. You could also.. change just the Start Menu skin by right clicking the Start button -> Settings -> Skin tab. that helps some - th...

Almost anything is fine already... but - how to get rid of this eye hurting WHITE in the Classic Shell Start Menue:

Many many THANKS 4 this Classic Shell!! I'm 'n old fart, aged 53, and already a little heavy on learning new things - and I really hated my new DELL inspirion with its shitty Win8Metro f... until I installed Classic Shell. Now I feel oriented again - almost like in the good old Windows 95 decade :-)
