Just found out. In start menu settings, be sure to have the Show All Settings option checked. Then, in the General Behavior tab, scroll down to the Expand Folder Shortcuts option, and uncheck it.

I just modified the shutdown button to put the computer to sleep (instead of shutting it down). It takes two clicks to do this. Is there a way to do this with a single click? I'm used to single-clicking that button.

That did it. Now I'll go for the present time, with what is there. But in the future, if I want to delete the "Lock" command from the shutdown options, is there a way I can do that? I already have my computer set to require a password when waking from Sleep, so I don't need a separate Lock...

FWIW, I just found out that you can search for a setting, instead of looking through each tab. For a utility with so many options (perhaps making it no longer a utility), that's helpful.

Just a word to the wise: if you want to tinker around and change one style (of start menu) to another, back up your settings first. I'm glad I did just now, b/c after switching from classic xp to vista to 7 start menu, my pinned programs were gone. A restore of that XML file brought them right back.

I'm selecting the Classic style start menu; I hit OK. In fact, CS even remembers my selection. But each time I go to the start menu, it is the Win7 style.

I'm not seeing any window advising a reboot. Is that necessary?
