Ok sorry for the trouble Ivo, it seems that I've found the problem. The fresh install of windows was a bit too fresh. the issue seems to be with the standard windows 8 display driver as unlike windows 7 there is no default NVidia driver that gets installed. I just installed the latest GeForce driver...

Ivo, I was just trying to upload.. I have compressed into zip (default windows 8 compressed file) but the forum will not allow me to upload it.. file size is 6.2 MB and the forum has a 5Mb limit.
