This may not suit your needs, but I use Sys Tray Recycler app for my recycle bin. It is safe, does not use much resources and is very customizable. In the attached snapshot, it is the small blue square in the taskbar next to the hidden icon symbol. I use a blue square for empty bin and a red square ...

Thank you again! On a lark, I installed free trial of Stardock's Start 10 menu - interesting, but can't compare to Classic Start! Will be sending another donation to you via PayPal, the amount it would have cost to install Start 10.

It looks as though Microsoft will not include a Start Menu on Windows 8 until at least 2015. I as a Classic Shell user already have it covered and am happy with our current setup. Note: for others wondering about this - I received a reply from a member of Windows 8 Forums who has already installed 8.1.1 and Classic Shell works just fine with the update - so, no worry either way.

Will the update (8.1.1) coming in April be handled the same way that 8.1 was handled? I am hoping Classic Shell will work after the update, as I have become dependent on it - it's just considered a part of Windows to me. Appreciate any input to relieve my mind. Thanks.

I can't get colors to change from gray.
