Changing the drive letter and rebooting resulted in no issues, so I just deleted the volume and extended my C drive. Many thanks again, Ivo and Gaurav!

But make sure that E drive is empty and has no important or system data. First go to Control Panel -> Folder Options and turn on hidden files and system files from View tab. If the drive contains anything important other than folders after showing hidden and system files like System Volume Informat...

Thanks I was able to create a bootable flash drive at last. But much like the other novices here, I'm unsure of exactly where to go with this now. If anyone can provide step by step guidance, without assuming that I understand the finer nuances, it would be a great help. Have you tried the guide he...

Would you mind telling me how to merge? I don't know if this helps, but here's a screenshot from Disk Management.

I don't know if this is Windows Anniversary related or Classic Shell hack related, but after fixing the MBR debacle, I noticed this morning I now have this second local disk showing up (the E:\ drive). I only have one HDD, and I don't have any externals or flash drives connected to my PC. When I dou...

Friend, you aren't supposed to just copy the ISO file like that or extract its contents. You gotta "burn" it into the USB dongle (ISO is like a copy of a CD for you to burn it and use it as an original CD). You can use a program like ROSA Image Writer do burn it to an USB drive, and then ...

So far everything is working just like in your guide! After the last screenshot and an automatic restart though, I got this . Obviously I will just click yes (haven't done anything yet because I wanted to post here and get a response first), but is this normal? The Windows Anniversary update fully i...

I sometimes have to wonder when I'm being played SquareCircle is an alias of the past for me :) I don't even want to GET into the rest heh And I won't ask, but I assure you I am way too stressed right now to mess with anyone! :D SquaredCircle is a wrestling term. I assume SquareCircle (without the ...

In the case your Master Boot Record has been altered, or removed (as happened to me with the fake version of Classic Shell), you can fix it. If you never made an Emergency Boot Disk from your operating system? and in that you can't boot up? You will have to find someone with a Windows OS - 7 worked...

I downloaded the UBCD iso file from here , copied it onto a flash drive (the only file there), plugged it in to my infected PC, changed the BIOS to boot from the flash drive first, but I'm still getting the spade and the blinking cursor. What am I doing wrong here? EDIT: I also tried extracting all ...

Win 7 disc may also work. You need to boot into recovery mode, then get to the command prompt, and then run these commands: bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot exit This worked for me with a Windows 10 disc, and I'm sure will work for Win 7. Pardon my most-likely incredibly obvious question, but if I ...

Alright, I'm back on my desktop. My steps, more or less. Not incredibly detailed but it may help someone. 1. Grabbed the testdisk as linked on one the above posts. Specially I got the ubcd live cd, which has it. 2. Ran testdisk, selected the boot drive, quick analyse, and then wrote the partitions ...

Thank you SO much for the response. The page you linked me to...is there a particular link you recommend I follow if I have never done anything remotely like this before, and I have no idea what I'm doing? I clicked on BootMed Plus first. Should I just go ahead and pay the $9.99 for that, download ...

You need to run TestDisk from one of these LiveCD distributions: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Livecd Either run it from a CD/DVD or a USB Flash Drive. Thank you SO much for the response. My FINAL solution was to use an older Windows 7 Emergency Boot CD, where none of the command line tools fixed it? I finally noticed the top 1 of 6 menu items 'Fix Startup Problems' - and phew - even though it's Windows 10 (as I thought 8 and 10 were major changes with MBR from 7), it did fix it. Ca...

I got hacked, too. I don't blame you, Ivo. I love Classic Shell. This is just incredibly terrible, and I'm mildly freaking out right now. I'm reading through this thread, and unfortunately for me, much of what is being said goes over my head. I'm moderately tech savvy, but I'm an amateur when it com...
