Well, this is not the case: programs and folders are mixed and not in alphabetical order.
So is there a way to fix it (at least once if it is not automatically done)?

Yes it is what I did, but nothing changed for a while.
I repeated this sevral times with reboots in between and it finally worked.

Hi Gaurav, I don't have exactly the same path. I have C:\Users\<Your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\ Recent Documents which doesn't have a folder icon but a special icon and which is empty anyway. I have search for AutomaticDestinations in all AppData and it does not exist around here....

Don't pay attention of the empty left column. It's just a modification of the screenshot ;)
Anyway, I tried the off/on of th erecent list with a re-boot... and same, the 2 recent items are still there...
