Com on guys, switch over to ie10 now. Hmmm, I'm confused: (1) Although I didn't state what version of IE I am running, I did state that I was running Win 8. Doesn't IE10 come standard with Win 8? (unless you really work at it to downgrade to a lower version.) (2) My "Help|About..." produc...

"Save" was not the right choice of words. "Reserve" was what I intended (i.e. don't post every little glitch or hiccup; wait until it affects my use of the program, or if it happens several times a week, as you had suggested.) I know that Ivo has just released a couple new versio...

Thanks, Jcee. Good to know that this is not an uncommon experience, nor the harbinger of something WORSE about to happen.

I guess I should save my "crash reports" for when they have a greater impact on my machine, then?

Thanks,
cheebie

I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary in IE, when suddenly an error message popped up saying something like, "Classic IE has encountered a problem and needs to close." (I have to remember to take Screen Shots of these things!!!) Over that window, another window popped up (from Micros...

Gack! GACK, I say!!!  I just KNEW it was a stupid problem/question!!! I have NEVER used "full-screen mode" in ANY version of Windows, so I wouldn't know it if I saw it (and obviously, I didn't !) You gotta admit, though: it DID kinda look like a Metro app, didn't it? No toolb...

Thanks for all the help, guys! I should've checked the site earlier! I'm really not a TOTAL dummie at this stuff; but Win8 has made me feel like one (maybe I should buy the book....) Let me clarify something: the problems I am experiencing are with INTERNET Explorer (not FILE Explorer, as far as I ...

I believe I have done due diligence before asking a question here, including uninstalling CS and reinstalling to the 4.0 version. I hate asking dumb questions, but I hate it MORE to not be able to have Classic Shell (I am hooked!) So here goes: (Windows 8 (as mentioned above), a...

Thank you for your reply, Gaurav. Unfortunately, I think it raised as many questions for me as it answered! :D I have done GOBS of research since you answered on Wednesday, to try to fill in the gaps in my understanding of this issue; and I've learned a lot. However, I'm not "there" yet. I...

Hi Gaurav, Well, it's very clear that you really, REALLY know your stuff when it comes to Windows UI! Thank you for taking the time to post here and answer my questions. However, you do (on occasion) "leave me in the dust!" So once again, I could use a few clarifications... Well visual sty...

Hi Gaurav, This is THE BEST explanation of what happened to Win 8 themes that I have EVER SEEN !! (Maybe I just didn't search far enough; but I spent two to four hours searching!) I nominate this for inclusion in the Classic Shell FAQ (since, IMHO, the Win 8 "visual style" is almost as muc...

Hi all, Thanks for this discussion! GauravK, thank you for the reference to UIStyle. This is one of the programs I looked at. However, I had the same question as Satuim, who helped me out by asking my question for me! :D And then thanks AGAIN to Gaurav, for your thorough explanation on this point! I...

First, I want to say a big "thank you" to the developer (Ivo?)! I was FORCED into adopting Windows 8; in my situation, it was not only due to the upcoming sunset of support for XP, but also due to the fact that my wife's machine got hit by a nasty Rootkit (ZeroAccess),...
