I don't know what other contributory factors there might be, but currently having Classic Shell running causes right-click context menus to immediately crash Explorer, including the shell. This happens when right-clicking on the desktop, desktop items, items in Free Launch Bar, in the Classic Shell ...

In painful hindsight I don't appreciate the suggestion. That is a severely ill-behaved blob of code that fully crashes Explorer constantly for actions as benign as right-clicking on a desktop file. No wonder its only source is another forum post. Please do not recommend it to anyone else, even as a ...

@VulcanTourist you still haven't answered my question about the numbers at the end of your posts. 148153, 163, and 13 so far in this thread alone. Wait, you asked me about that? Sorry, wasn't paying attention! The truth is... I have no exact idea where those numbers are coming from! They have no me...

You still fail to consider the specific usage case that I described and the OP reiterated: not looking for folders with a specific known tag , instead simply wanting to compare and contrast folders based on their tags. Windows Search is useless in that context; the only way it can be accomplished is...

@VulcanTourist, the original poster did mention searching ability too which you failed to notice. I didn't fail to notice. Searching wasn't all he mentioned, and I dare say his real intention is sorting, to have those comments visible in a separate column while viewing folders, regardless whether h...

I've wanted integrated FOLDER tagging for many years. GauravK fails to recognize that the utility of this isn't in FINDING a tagged folder, it's in sorting and viewing it relative to other folders. In the past I found a utility or two that attempted to do it externally, but they functioned poorly. I...

Sure, I do that... SOMETIMES. Other times I do not, and that is when this one-size-fits-all Explorer feature kicks me in the ass. Always right-clicking, and having to deal with the resultant dialog, when doing repetitive operations is not ideal. Also, quietly condensing, editing, and deleting user p...

No you're not, you're supposed to be bold and confident and release the mouse on the destination before it even begins to expand. I'm a pedantic timid careful chicken, though, and I often hesitate too long making sure I'm positioned over the intended destination. The result is that I frequently wind...

That is appreciated as an interim solution, but I'd prefer having one less separate blob of code to fix aberrant Explorer behavior. I have so many separate blobs of code to fix aberrant Windows behaviors now that it makes me dizzy. Addendum: I installed this utility, but Explorer windows still autom...

In Windows 7 and earlier versions, newly opened Explorer windows that are not maximized will "helpfully" reposition themselves to overlap the last used location rather than fully overlay it. Perversely, it will do this even if there is no (longer) Explorer window already in that location! ...

By default in Windows 7, and I believe earlier versions, when dragging a file or folder onto the navigation (left) pane in Explorer, a destination under the mouse will auto-expand to show sub-folders after a brief fixed delay. This fixed delay is too damned short, and has continuously over the years...
