Microsoft is too stuck up about shifting away from old paradigms, even if some users consider them better. They won't take this project. And I just remembered, Stardock already has something like that and it's not that expensive: https://www.stardock.com/products/start10/ Maybe we should all move..... |

Since the Fall Creators Update, the Default Programs now take you to PC Settings after you click "set your default programs" I found out the shortcut which takes you to the old classic default programs menu which is: explorer shell:::{17cd9488-1228-4b2f-88ce-4298e93e0966} -Microsoft.Defaul... |

The width depends only on the text length and the skin padding. The padding in this skin hasn't changed in over a year. Maybe you had longer items before? Maybe you had the "Large font" skin setting checked? yes that made it look like before although I had never touched that setting befor... |

I am running Classic Shell 4.2.7 Beta but I noticed that the start menu is a bit narrow now when you hit the start button, you know where Computer, Documents, Music, etc are listed on the right hand side of it? The dumps don't show anything interesting. In all of them Explorer is doing nothing. Either the slowdown was around one second or less, or it is not related to opening of the start menu. Did you try excluding the start menu folders from Defender? BTW, excluding ClassicStartMenu.exe is not going to ... |

Are you using a pre-release version of Windows 10? Can you exclude the Start Menu folders from Defender? There are two of them - one for the user and one for all users. After 3 days of testing, I didn't get one bug anymore after enabling Windows Error Reporting which I had previously turned off/disabled via Group Policy Editor.
So it seems that Classic Shell doesn't work well if Windows Error Reporting isn't on, very strange. |

Just did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit and installed all the latest drivers + Windows updates. I then installed Classic shell but I keep getting a message randomly:
"Classic Start Menu Has Stopped Working"
What gives?
I have attached my Classic Shell settings XML file. |
