Yes, brings me to the Update & Security screen. Interestingly, when I right-click on Windows Update from that screen, it offers me an option to Unpin from Start. But it's not pinned to Start. Nothing happens when I click Unpin and then click Pin to Start.

Using the CS menu (click on Start icon). Cortana is disabled.

It does find Windows Update Settings, but the same thing happens when I try dragging that to the desktop or the taskbar.

Thanks Ivo. The search comes up with no Windows Update but it does have "Check for updates". Won't allow me to drag that to the desktop. Seems to allow dragging to the taskbar, but then disappears when I release the mouse button.

Using Win 7 style, I'd like to have only those apps which are pinned show up in the left column. But when I remove an unpinned app, another one pops up in its place. Any way around this? Thanks! ...Steve
